Montessori Teacher

We are looking for a qualified Preschool Teacher to prepare small children for kindergarten by easing them into organised education. You will teach them important elements that they will encounter soon after they enter school life. A preschool teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Key Responsibilities: 1. Curriculum Planning and Implementation: Design and implement lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards and the developmental needs of preschool-aged children. Use a variety of instructional strategies, including storytelling, music, arts and crafts, play-based learning, and interactive games to engage students. Integrate academic concepts such as basic literacy (letters, sounds, early reading), numeracy (counting, sorting, patterning), and scientific exploration in a fun and age-appropriate manner. Create thematic units that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and exploration of the world around them. 2. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all children feel safe, respected, and valued. Develop and consistently apply routines, rules, and behavioural expectations to promote positive behaviour and classroom harmony. Monitor and guide children’s behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques and appropriate interventions when necessary. Encourage independence and responsibility through structured routines and opportunities for self-directed learning. 3. Child Development Monitoring and Assessment: Observe and assess each child’s progress in various developmental areas, including cognitive, language, physical, emotional, and social growth. Keep detailed records of student development and maintain portfolios of work and progress. Identify any developmental delays or special needs and work with parents, caregivers, and specialists to provide appropriate support. Provide regular feedback to parents through conferences, written reports, and informal communication. 4. Parent Communication and Involvement: Develop strong relationships with families and encourage their involvement in classroom activities and their child’s learning journey. Communicate regularly with parents about classroom events, curriculum goals, and their child’s progress. Organise parent-teacher conferences and family engagement activities throughout the year. Respond promptly and professionally to parent inquiries or concerns. 5. Classroom Environment and Safety: Set up and maintain a clean, well-organised, and inviting classroom environment that reflects the developmental needs of preschool children. Ensure all materials, toys, and equipment are safe, age-appropriate, and sanitised regularly. Follow health and safety policies, including supervision of children, emergency procedures, and cleanliness standards. Promote a culture of safety and care, ensuring that children are always supervised and that the physical environment is secure. 6. Professional Development and Collaboration: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, workshops, and training sessions to stay current with best practices in early childhood education. Collaborate with teaching assistants, co-teachers, and other school staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Contribute to curriculum planning meetings and school events. Maintain compliance with regulations and school policies.
