The Design Engineer position involves proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and manufacturing processes to assist with new product development, value engineering, and quality initiatives. The responsibilities include ensuring product quality, timely execution, and cost management throughout the product lifecycle by converting design concepts into feasible manufacturing solutions. The Design Engineer supports the team in quality outcomes, execution scheduling, and cost management (Q/D/C).
Key Responsibilities:
• 3D CAD Modelling & Assembly Management
o Develop complex part models and multi-level assemblies
o Conduct interference checks, motion studies within CAD environment
o Optimize large assemblies for performance and manage configurations, exploded views, and BOM structures
o Able to apply advanced modelling techniques including surfacing, sheet metal design, weldments, and top-down assembly strategies
• Technical Drawing & Documentation
o Generate detailed engineering drawings with GD&T, material specifications, and tolerance stack-ups
o Maintain revision control and change documentation through PLM/PDM systems
o Ensure drawings meet manufacturing, inspection, and regulatory standards
• Manufacturing Integration & DFM/DFA Practices
o Design components with manufacturability in mindconsidering tooling, fabrication constraints, and assembly workflows
o Integrate Design for Service (DFS), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles from concept to release
• Lifecycle & Data Management
o Manage CAD data within PLM/PDM platforms, ensuring traceability, version control, and release workflows
o Support and drive ECO processes
• Cross-functional Collaboration & Execution
o Interact with manufacturing, sourcing, and quality teams to resolve design issues and support production readiness
BE degree/ Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering
• Hands-on experience with 3D modelling CAD software (SolidWorks/Creo Sheetmetal, Solid modelling, Drawings etc.)
• Work experience from OEM manufacturing or Product companies would be added advantage
