Role Overview

The HVAC Design Engineer is responsible for designing complete Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning systems for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. The role includes system calculations, equipment selection, preparing technical drawings, coordination with other MEP services, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards

Key Responsibilities

1. HVAC System Design

• Perform heat load calculations using software (HAP/TRACE/Carrier) or manual methods.
• Design HVAC systems such as VRV/VRF, Chilled Water systems, Package Units, Split AC, Ducted AC, and Mechanical Ventilation.
• Prepare HVAC layout drawings: duct routing, piping, equipment placement, and shaft planning.
• Select HVAC equipment (AHU, FCU, VRF units, chillers, pumps, exhaust fans, fresh air fans, etc.).
• Prepare BOQ, equipment schedules, design reports, and technical specifications.

2. Codes & Standards

• Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, ISHRAE, NBC, ECBC, NFPA, and relevant Indian & international standards.
• Apply energy-efficiency principles and best practices in HVAC design.

3. Coordination

• Coordinate HVAC design with Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, and Architectural teams.
• Attend site meetings and coordinate with consultants, contractors, and clients.
• Prepare clash-free drawings in coordination with AutoCAD/Revit teams.

4. Documentation & Drawings

• Prepare single-line diagrams, schematic drawings, and detailed HVAC design sheets.
• Review shop drawings submitted by contractors.
• Validate vendor equipment selections and ensure technical compliance.

5. Site Support

• Conduct site visits for inspections and design clarifications.
• Resolve site-related technical queries (RFIs) and ensure design intent is followed.

6. Project Delivery

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ensure timely submission of deliverables as per project timelines.
• Maintain quality and accuracy of work as per Esscons standards.

🔹 Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles, psychrometric chart, and system selection.
• Experience with heat load calculation tools (HAP/TRACE preferred).
• AutoCAD proficiency
• Understanding of HVAC equipment and vendor offerings.
• Knowledge of smoke control, pressurization, and ventilation design.

Soft Skills

• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Client-handling capability preferred.

🔹 Qualifications & Experience

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with strong HVAC experience may be considered.
• 1–5 years of experience in HVAC/MEP design consultancy.
• Freshers with solid technical understanding & training may also apply.

🔹 Preferred Background

• Experience working in MEP consultancy firms.
• Exposure to commercial, residential, industrial, institutional & hospitality projects.
• Hands-on knowledge of BOQ preparation and technical documentation.
