Role Overview
In today’s fast-paced digital world, information is power — but only if you can track,
analyze, and act on it in real time.
At Demos Project, we are seeking a Media Monitoring Associate to be responsible
for real-time tracking, analysis, and synthesis of information across print, digital,
social, and broadcast media.
This role is central to identifying trends, monitoring competitor narratives, and
generating actionable insights that directly feed into the campaign’s
communication and content strategy. You will serve as the first line of observation
and intelligence for shaping narratives that respond swiftly and strategically to
evolving political dynamics in Tamil Nadu.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive Media Tracking
● Continuously monitor print, TV, digital, and social media for political
developments, public debates, and emerging narratives.
● Track speeches, statements, and appearances of key leaders from opposition
parties and government functionaries.
● Cover debates, press meets, and interviews, providing concise summaries
and key takeaways.
● Maintain a daily issue tracker highlighting trends, viral content, adversary
claims, and relevant media stories.
● Identify potential misinformation or narrative shifts requiring immediate
campaign response.
Social & Digital Media Surveillance
● Monitor trending hashtags, influencer commentary, viral posts, and
issue-based digital conversations across X (Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, and
Facebook.
● Flag early indicators of emerging issues and content opportunities before they
go mainstream.
● Record and archive critical posts, threads, and visuals for campaign reference.
Print & Broadcast Intelligence
● Track coverage across newspapers, regional magazines, and local editions.
● Prepare concise daily and weekly summaries on government actions, policy
announcements, and political statements.
● Document tone, placement, and sentiment of coverage to evaluate public
perception trends.
● Monitor TV panel discussions, debates, and opinion programs, highlighting
statements, counters, and framing patterns.
Insights & Coordination
● Compile media insights into short, actionable briefs for Research, Data, and
Content Teams.
● Flag key stories or quotes to the Narrative & Creative Units for counter or
reinforcement messaging.
● Support the Strategy Centre with verified references, transcript snippets, and
factual comparisons for campaign use.
● Contribute to issue mapping and maintain a media repository segmented by
topic, leader, and geography.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Political Science, Communication,
Public Policy, or related disciplines.
Experience
● 3–6 years of experience in media monitoring, newsroom reporting,
campaign tracking, or research-based communication.
● Prior exposure to Tamil Nadu’s political or governance environment preferred.
● Experience in working under tight deadlines with fast information turnaround.
Skills
● Strong command over Tamil and English for reading, listening, and writing.
● Excellent summarization and analytical writing skills — ability to convert large
information volumes into concise, actionable notes.
● Political awareness and contextual understanding of Tamil Nadu’s electoral
and media landscape.
● Familiarity with monitoring dashboards, news aggregators, and digital
tools for social media tracking.
● Organized, detail-oriented, and quick to identify patterns or anomalies in
coverage.
Work Environment & Expectations
● High-speed, high-pressure campaign setting requiring flexibility and alertness.
● Extended work hours, including late evenings and weekends during
campaign phases.
● Strict confidentiality and professionalism in handling politically sensitive
material.
● Proactive mindset — ability to anticipate information needs and flag emerging
developments before they trend.
● Strong commitment to precision, timeliness, and coordination across
cross-functional teams.
Why This Role Matters
In a landscape where narratives shift by the hour, media monitoring is not just
observation — it’s strategy in motion.
By identifying trends early, tracking sentiment, and enabling timely responses, you’ll
help transform raw information into campaign intelligence that drives public
perception.
