Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site internship role in Chennai. The Mechanical Design Intern will assist in creating detailed CAD models using SolidWorks and support the mechanical design and prototyping of components. The intern will also participate in rapid prototyping using 3D printing, aid in assembly of prototypes, and collaborate with engineering teams to optimize product designs and processes. The role offers hands-on exposure to mechanical design, manufacturing considerations, and teamwork with experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating and modifying 3D CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
• Support rapid prototyping efforts including 3D printing of parts and assemblies.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop mechanical components and improve existing designs.
• Conduct basic engineering calculations and analysis related to component strength and motion.
• Assist in prototype assembly, testing, and design validation activities.
• Prepare engineering documentation and design reports.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturing readiness.

Requirements

• Pursuing B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for parametric modelling and assembly design.
• Hands-on experience with 3D printing processes, slicing software, and basic printer operation.
• Familiarity with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and engineering calculations.
• Demonstrated interest in robotics/automation.

Duration & Location

• Internship Duration: 3 to 6 Months
• Location: Guindy, Ekkatuthangal
• Stipend: Based on performance and project contribution.
