Mechanical Design Engineer designs, develops, and tests new and existing mechanical systems, products, and components. Key responsibilities include creating CAD models and engineering drawings, performing stress and failure analyses (like FMEA), managing projects, and overseeing the manufacturing process for their designs. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes. Core responsibilitiesDesign and development: Create new designs for mechanical systems, components, and products using CAD software. Documentation: Produce detailed engineering drawings, technical specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions. Analysis and testing: Analyze designs using methods like Finite Element Method (FEM) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to ensure performance and reliability. Test prototypes to validate performance. Problem-solving: Investigate and solve design and manufacturing issues, often performing root-cause analysis to find innovative solutions. Project management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from initial concept to final production, meeting project timelines and goals.Collaboration: Provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams and collaborate with other engineers and professionals. Required skills and qualificationsEducation: A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is typically required; a master's degree may be preferred for advanced roles. Technical skills: Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) is essential. Engineering knowledge: A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, material science, thermodynamics, and manufacturing processes is necessary.
