Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer with strong experience in the design and development of conveyors, packaging machinery, and Special Purpose Machines (SPMs). The role requires in-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, motion design, and practical experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD. This is a core engineering role involving concept-to-execution responsibility for mechanical design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Concept Design & 3D Modeling

• Design conveyors, packaging machines, pick-and-place units, and gantry systems.
• Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Prepare fabrication-ready 2D drawings and BOMs using AutoCAD.

Pneumatic Systems

• Select and size pneumatic cylinders, valves, and accessories.
• Apply vacuum ejectors, suction cups, and related components for handling mechanisms.
• Integrate pneumatic components into mechanical systems efficiently. Drive Motors & Motion Components
• Calculate and select geared motors, servo motors, and stepper motors based on torque and speed requirements.
• Understand basic wiring and mounting requirements for drive units. Mechanical Transmission Systems
• Design and implement gear and sprocket systems, including speed calculations and chain drive selection.
• Optimize layout for smooth transmission and low maintenance.

Linear Motion Design

• Integrate linear motion systems such as LM guideways, V-guide rollers, and ball screws.
• Use rack & pinion, toothed belt drives, and other positioning elements for automation needs.

Sheet Metal & Enclosures

• Design control panels, machine enclosures, and SS304 structures using sheet metal principles.
• Develop storage tanks, trays, and fabrication assemblies.

Racks & Storage Solutions

• Design mechanical racking systems using pipe bending, brackets, and welded frames.
• Create drawer slide mechanisms and compact storage layouts for material handling.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Collaborate with electrical, automation, and production teams for integrated machine solutions.
• Prepare BOMs, issue design documents, and support procurement and fabrication teams.
• Maintain version control and design change records.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Strong command of SolidWorks and AutoCAD (2D/3D design and drafting).
• Ability to manage end-to-end design—from concept through to fabrication release.
• Deep understanding of machine elements, sheet metal design, and fabrication methods.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes like welding, machining, and assembly.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset.
• Effective communicator with documentation and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Background:

• Experience in conveyor systems, material handling equipment, or SPM manufacturing.
• Familiarity with pneumatics, servo systems, and packaging machinery

Mandatory Skill Set:
