Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer proficient in AutoCAD 2D to produce precise technical drawings for piping, equipment, and structural layouts. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in mechanical drafting, knowledge of international standards, and the ability to collaborate with engineering teams to deliver accurate GA drawings, isometrics, and material take-offs. Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and piping specifications will be an advantage. Key Responsibilities: 1. Drafting & Design: • Create and revise 2D technical drawings (piping layouts, equipment arrangements, civil/structural details) using AutoCAD 2D. • Generate isometric drawings (ISO) and General Arrangement (GA) drawings. • Assist in plot plan development and piping system layouts. 2. Documentation & Compliance: • Verify Material Take-Off (MTO) and Bill of Materials (BOM) for accuracy. • Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, international standards (ASME, ANSI, ISO), and safety regulations. • Maintain organized records of drawings and revisions. 3. Collaboration: • Work closely with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to align drawings with project requirements. • Participate in design reviews and implement feedback. 4. Quality Assurance: • Cross-check drawings for errors, clashes, or omissions. • Support as-built documentation and project handover. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field. • 2+ years of experience in mechanical drafting/design, preferably in oil & gas, chemical, or construction. • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D (mandatory). • Knowledge of Piping Material Specifications (PMS) and piping components. • Familiarity with international drafting standards (ASME Y14.5, ISO 128). • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering sketches. • Communication Skills: Fluent in English (verbal/written). Preferred (Advantage): • Exposure to AutoCAD Plant 3D or other 3D modeling tools (e.g., CADWorx). • Basic understanding of P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams). • Awareness of piping fabrication/installation practices.
