About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Mathematics Content Lead to spearhead the development of our comprehensive test-prep question banks for high-stakes standardized tests. As our Mathematics Content Lead for this product line, you'll build the foundation for rigorous, pedagogically sound content across SAT, ACT, AP Calculus, AP Precalculus, and JEE. You'll lead a build and mentor a team of SMEs and establish quality standards that help students internalize key concepts and perform under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Development & Strategy
- Design and oversee creation of exhaustive question banks for SAT/ACT Math, AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Precalculus, etc
- Develop a balanced distribution of questions from foundational recall exercises to rigorous test-level problems
- Establish content frameworks that align with testing blueprints
- Create difficulty taxonomies and tagging systems for adaptive learning pathways
- Ensure questions progressively build conceptual understanding and test-taking confidence
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of junior mathematics SMEs
- Establish quality assurance protocols and review processes for all mathematical content
- Provide feedback and mentorship to help SMEs develop expertise in assessment writing
- Conduct regular calibration sessions to ensure consistency in difficulty levels and explanations
Quality & Pedagogical Excellence
- Write exemplar questions that model best practices in assessment design
- Develop detailed solution explanations that reinforce conceptual understanding
- Review and edit all questions for mathematical accuracy, clarity, and pedagogical value
- Identify and eliminate bias, ambiguity, and potential confusion in problem statements
- Ensure questions reflect diverse contexts and real-world applications
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with product and engineering teams to implement content effectively
- Collaborate with other Content Leads to maintain consistent quality across subjects
- Analyze student performance data to identify content gaps and improvement opportunities
- Stay current with changes to test formats, content specifications, and scoring rubrics
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field (Master's preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in mathematics teaching/content-development at high school or college level preferred
- Deep expertise in calculus, precalculus, algebra, geometry, and data analysis
- Experience managing or mentoring educators or content developers preferred
- Exceptional written communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
