The Opportunity UST is seeking a Surface Validation Engineer to support client-side validation activities across Windows-based devices. This role involves executing test plans, identifying defects, and coordinating with firmware, BIOS, and driver teams for issue resolution. Key Responsibilities Execute manual validation test cases on Surface platforms across multiple feature areas (e.g., display, audio, USB, battery, power) Set up and maintain test environments including firmware flashing and OS installations Validate BIOS, graphics, and firmware components across Windows platforms Log test results, collect system logs, and track failures for further analysis File, triage, and follow through on bugs using tracking tools like Azure DevOps, Jira, or internal portals Work closely with cross-functional teams to replicate issues and ensure test coverage Assist with testbed bring-up and sanity testing for new hardware platforms Participate in daily syncs and report test execution status clearly Required Skills Strong understanding of Windows operating systems and basic hardware interfaces Hands-on experience with firmware flashing tools and test execution processes Familiarity with BIOS/UEFI, firmware components, and platform debugging basics Good documentation and communication skills Ability to work in lab environments with attention to detail Desired Skills Experience working with Surface or Windows hardware platforms Exposure to system validation or hardware bring-up environments Understanding of defect management processes Qualification Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field 2–4 years of experience in hardware validation, test execution, or system integration What We Believe Humility: We listen, learn, and help selflessly in our interactions Humanity: We use business to improve lives Integrity: We honor commitments and act responsibly in relationships Equal Employment Opportunity Statement UST is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
