Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 10–15 software engineers.
  • Set performance objectives, conduct reviews, and support career growth of team members.
  • Influence and inspire team members to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Define a vision for the team in alignment with organizational goals and translate it into actionable plans.

Technical Ownership

  • Drive the product vision and contribute to platform development, with a focus on Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs).
  • Preferred experience with

    Backstage (IDP)

    , but expertise in other IDP tooling/platforms is also considered.
  • Collaborate with development, architecture, solutions, and QA teams to ensure software systems meet standards of scalability, stability, testability, and performance.
  • Act as a technical reference point across multiple areas, solving complex challenges and anticipating future solutions.

Accountability & Execution

  • Define and communicate technical/functional roadmaps and objectives for the team.
  • Take ownership of team performance and delivery outcomes.
  • Address resource and operational challenges, and suggest process improvements or new approaches.
  • Ensure timely investigation and resolution of production support issues and customer inquiries.

Communication

  • Provide clear and timely updates to team members and stakeholders.
  • Maintain transparency on team progress, challenges, and outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong hands-on technical background with experience in

    platform engineering or internal developer platforms

    (Backstage preferred).
  • 100% technical professional, with a willingness to manage and grow a team (prior managerial experience is not mandatory).
  • Proven ability to influence, motivate, and drive results through others.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
