Role Overview
We are seeking a technically strong, experienced and hands on
SCADA Manager
to lead the design, engineering, implementation, commissioning and integration of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for our solar power projects. The role involves working closely with electrical and civil teams, procurement, project execution teams, OM teams (if applicable), and vendors to ensure SCADA systems are delivered on time, meet technical and quality standards, and support reliable plant operation and monitoring. Key Roles Responsibilities
Lead design and architecture of SCADA systems for solar PV / power plant projects: define SCADA/RTU/PLC architecture, communication networks, layout of field devices (inverters, meters, sensors, weather stations, protection devices), and integration plans. Saur Energy+2Progressive+2
Prepare detailed SCADA design deliverables: signal lists, point mapping, IP addressing schemes, network topology, wiring diagrams, HMI/ dashboard specification, data logging historian requirements, communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, IEC, etc.) and documentation for procurement and execution. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (electrical, civil, grid connection) to ensure SCADA design aligns with overall project design and grid / EB line requirements.
2. Procurement Vendor / Contractor Management
Define SCADA scope of work, technical specifications for SCADA hardware and software (RTUs/PLCs, communication modules, servers/HMI, metering devices, sensors, cabling, etc.) for procurement.
Evaluate vendor offers, perform technical due diligence, and coordinate procurement of SCADA related equipment.
Oversee vendor/subcontractor delivery of SCADA scope ensure compliance to design, quality standards, and timely delivery for installation / commissioning.
3. Installation, Integration Commissioning Oversight
Supervise installation, integration and commissioning of SCADA systems on site RTUs/PLCs, field devices, networking, servers, HMI, communication channels, metering, protection control systems. ib vogt+2Dohaj+2
Lead or coordinate commissioning tests: functional tests, communication data acquisition verification, metering calibration, grid tie compliance, signal / data logging validation, HMI/dashboard functionality, remote monitoring setup. ib vogt+2Saur Energy+2
Ensure system integration with other plant systems (inverters, transformers, grid interface, protection) is smooth and data/control flows work as per design.
4. SCADA Quality, Standards, Compliance Documentation
Define and enforce SCADA engineering standards, configuration control, documentation standards, naming conventions, signal mapping, network security practices.
Maintain comprehensive documentation: design drawings, configuration files, network diagrams, signal logs, commissioning reports, as built drawings, vendor handover documents, change logs, and compliance certificates.
Ensure SCADA design and implementation meet regulatory or utility grid requirements, statutory approvals, and integration norms (especially for EB line / grid connected solar plants).
5. Team Leadership Stakeholder Coordination
Lead and mentor a team of SCADA / control systems engineers, site engineers, technicians and subcontractors. Assign responsibilities, review work, provide technical guidance, and ensure accountability.
Liaise with project management, electrical/civil teams, procurement, OM (if applicable), external consultants / vendors / utility authorities to coordinate SCADA scope within overall project lifecycle.
Act as main point of contact for SCADA-related matters within the project and represent SCADA function in project meetings, reviews, and decision points.
6. Project Planning, Schedule Budget Management
Prepare SCADA scope schedule aligned with overall project schedule plan milestones for design, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover.
Manage SCADA budget track procurement costs, vendor/subcontractor costs, labor and commissioning expenses; ensure compliance with project financial limits.
Identify risks related to SCADA scope (delivery delays, technical issues, integration risks) and propose mitigation strategies to Project Head / Management.
7. Operations Support Handover (If OM Scope Included)
In projects with OM scope, support operations team by configuring remote monitoring, commissioning SCADA for operations, handing over SCADA documentation, ensuring data acquisition, monitoring dashboards and maintenance procedures are in place. AMEA Power+1
Provide technical support for troubleshooting SCADA/communication issues during operations, coordinate with vendors or internal maintenance team for corrective measures.
Qualifications Skills
Education:
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Power Systems / Control Systems (or equivalent).
Project Management Skills:
Resource planning, vendor subcontractor management, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, multi discipline coordination.
