Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Taking care of women in relation to both antenatally and postnatally include teaching antenatal exercises, giving labor education and support, in the treatment of incontinence and in the care of women undergoing gynecological surgery.

  1. Physiotherapists assess patients through interviews, physical examinations, and review of medical history to identify impairments, functional limitations, and movement disorders
  2. Treatment Planning and Implementation: Based on the assessment, physiotherapists develop individualized treatment plans and goals for their patients
  3. Impart knowledge and take part in providing education in preparation for childbirth and parenthood.
  4. Encourage women to prefer natural birthing / normal delivery by providing them antenatal exercise.
  5. Assess and treat any skeletal and muscular ailment or discomfort faced during pregnancy.
  6. Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention: Physiotherapists assist patients in recovering from injuries, surgeries, or medical conditions that affect their physical function
  7. Provide post natal exercise and give specialized treatment if necessary.
  8. Impart knowledge of effective relaxation, breathing awareness and positioning and other information that could help a woman in labour.
  9. Provide specialized physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, monitoring and management.
  10. Provide prenatal and postnatal physiotherapy services
  11. Carry out OPD consultations as per the appointments made.
  12. Carry out in patient rounds
  13. Observe and provide support to patients while making them walk inside the room.
  14. Teach postures, body mechanics and impart knowledge about the care and precautions to be taken post-delivery.

  1. Visit the LDR and teach Lamaze for women who are in the 1st and 2nd stage of labour.
  2. Addresses womens issues related to childbirth, antenatal and postpartum disorders including lymphedema, osteoporosis, pelvic pain, labour pain etc.
  3. Participate in the hospital marketing activities by giving health talks, in camps , corporate offices, events etc. educating the antenatal mothers and general population on healthy postures and exercise.
  4. Maintain NABH standards, policies, protocols and manual related to the Physiotherapy Department
  5. Any other responsibilities assigned by the reporting manager.
