Job Overview

Sales Manager Merchant Acquiring

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with acquiring merchants, UPI, and payout products, and a proven track record of closing enterprise and mid-market merchants.

Role & responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Drive end-to-end sales for merchant acquiring solutions including Payment Gateway, UPI, Cards, Net Banking, Wallets, and Payout APIs
  • Identify, prospect, and onboard SMEs, enterprises, marketplaces, platforms, and aggregators
  • Own the complete sales cycle: lead generation, solution pitching, commercial negotiations, closures, and onboarding
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline to achieve monthly and quarterly revenue targets

Merchant & Partner Management

  • Develop long-term relationships with merchants, fintech partners, and acquiring bank stakeholders
  • Work closely with internal onboarding, risk, compliance, and tech teams to ensure smooth merchant activation
  • Act as a single point of contact for key merchant accounts

Market & Product Alignment

  • Understand merchant pain points and map them to our connected banking and payout solutions
  • Gather market intelligence on competitors, pricing, and new fintech trends
  • Provide inputs to product and leadership teams to improve offerings and go-to-market strategies

Team & Process Contribution

  • Mentor junior sales team members (if applicable)
  • Maintain CRM hygiene and accurate sales reporting
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies during merchant onboarding

Preferred candidate profile

  • 8+ years of experience in merchant acquiring / payment solutions sales
  • Prior experience in fintech companies, payment gateways, banks, or payment service providers
  • Strong understanding of Merchant acquiring ecosystem. Payment rails: UPI, Cards, Net Banking, Wallets, Payouts, settlements, reconciliation, and chargebacks
  • Proven experience in closing SME and enterprise merchants
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
