Manager - Route Planning

Job Purpose

Support the development and optimization of Air India’s domestic and international route network, ensuring alignment with commercial and operational goals. Contribute to strategic evaluations for route expansion, driving growth and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Analyze route performance, market trends, and competitor activity to inform strategy
• Own commercial and operational datasets for accurate reporting
• Deliver insights to support network planning decisions

Route Strategy & Evaluation

• Assist in short- and long-term network strategy formulation
• Evaluate new market opportunities through financial and viability assessments
• Support management approvals for route expansion

Hub Management

• Plan and maintain efficient hub structures and connectivity
• Ensure comprehensive data tracking for passenger flows and hub metrics
• Share insights with internal stakeholders for planning scenarios

Performance Monitoring

• Track financial and operational performance of routes
• Present recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work with Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, and Communications to implement route strategies
• Act as SPOC for network-related communications and updates
• Ensure end-to-end visibility of strategic initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business Administration, Aviation Management, or related field
• 3–5 years in data-driven analytical roles, preferably in airline route planning
• 5+ years in airline network planning and strategic development
