Manager - Litigation

Position Summary:

1. Strategic Litigation Management

• Lead and oversee all litigation matters across Consumer, Civil, and Criminal courts, Ombudsman, Arbitration, and regulatory forums.
• Formulate litigation strategies, provide guidance on complex legal matters, and ensure timely and effective resolution of disputes.
• Represent the Company's position in high-stake matters and support external counsel with case preparation and strategy.

2. Team Leadership & Development

• Establish robust processes to ensure smooth handling of legal notices, statutory communications, and advisory services.

3. Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with internal stakeholders such as Claims, Operations, Customer Servicing, HR, and Management teams to align on litigation strategy and defense preparation.
• Provide timely legal advice on claims cases and operational decisions with significant legal implications.

4. External Counsel Management

• Manage relationships with external lawyers, ensuring alignment with company objectives and obtaining favorable outcomes
• Review and finalize written submissions, statements, and legal arguments for accuracy and strength.

5. Regulatory & Legal Compliance

• Stay updated on emerging legal developments, regulatory changes, and judicial pronouncements impacting the insurance industry.
• Ensure adherence to all internal policies, external regulations, and guidelines related to litigation.

Candidate Requirements:

• Education & Experience: Law Graduate with minimum 7-8 years of relevant experience, preferably in the life insurance or financial services industry.
• Proven track record in handling complex litigations including Consumer, Civil, and Criminal matters.
• Strong knowledge of procedural laws (CPC & BNS), insurance laws, regulatory frameworks, and arbitration.
• Experience in team leadership and external counsel management.
