Job Description

Objectives / Purpose:

The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining instruments that measure and control industrial processes. They ensure that instruments used for process control are accurate, reliable, and safe. The role also involves troubleshooting instrumentation issues, conducting performance evaluations, and improving system performance.

Accountabilities:

  • Design and develop control loops, sensors, transmitters, and other instrumentation systems.
  • Ensure designs meet safety, performance, and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate instrumentation into larger systems. Batch charging and monitoring
  • Ensure that the correct installation procedures are followed for all equipment.
  • Perform site surveys and risk assessments prior to installation.
  • Supervise the testing and commissioning of new systems, ensuring systems meet performance criteria.
  • Perform routine checks and calibrations of equipment.
  • Monitor the performance of systems and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Diagnose faults and determine causes of instrument failures or malfunctions.
  • Develop solutions to rectify problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Document issues and resolutions to improve future troubleshooting efforts.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify safety hazards in instrumentation systems.
  • Maintain accurate schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
  • Prepare technical reports, inspection logs, and maintenance records.
  • Provide regular updates and performance reviews to management and other stakeholders.
  • Procure materials, equipment, and instruments required for maintenance while ensuring cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate resources and manpower effectively to achieve goals on time.

Interface:

  • Interact with EHS department for document compliance and trainings.
  • Interact with QA department for document compliance.
  • Interact with Electrical Team for diagnose and resolve electrical faults affecting Instrumentation systems, such as power surges or electrical failures.
  • Interface with Process Engineering Team for to select appropriate instruments (e.g., pressure transmitters, flow meters) based on the process requirements, collaborating on the design and configuration of control loops etc.
  • Interface with Mechanical Engineering Team for to ensure instrumentation can function within the mechanical systems' physical constraints (e.g., temperature, pressure, vibration), Installation of Instruments Etc.
  • Interface with IT (Information Technology) Team for Data Communication, Cybersecurity and Network Integration.
  • Interface with Suppliers and Vendors for Product Selection, Vendor Support and Procurement & Delivery etc.
  • Interface with Regulatory Authorities for Weighing Metrology Calibration, pH Meters monitoring, Coordinating with regulatory bodies during inspections, audits, and certifications for instrumentation systems.

Competencies:

1. Excellent knowledge & understanding in Field Instrumentation .

2. Knowledge on DCS/PLC Control Systems (Honeywell /ABB/SIEMENS /SCHNEIDER)

3. Calibration and Testing of Field Instruments

4. Knowledge of Process Control

5. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving

6. Control Systems Programming

7. Knowledge on Third party Communications & Protocol .

8. Project Planning and Execution

9. Vendor Management

10. Decision Making and Delegation

11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

12. Good interpersonal skill.

13. Working knowledge in SAP is preferred.

14. Working Knowledge on ELV systems line Fire Alarm system/PA System /CCTV Network .
