About the Role
We are looking for a
Manager I, FinOps Engineer
to join our Cloud Engineering and SRE organization. This role will be at the intersection of Finance, Engineering, and Operations
, helping us optimize cloud spend, enforce cost governance, and ensure financial accountability across large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS deployments. You will work closely with Engineering, SRE, Procurement, and Leadership teams to provide visibility, drive efficiency, and design cost-conscious architectures that balance performance, scale, and financial discipline.
Key Responsibilities

Cloud Cost Governance Reporting
- Build, maintain, and enhance dashboards for real-time cost visibility (AWS CUR, Cost Explorer, QuickSight, Grafana, etc.).
- Deliver monthly/quarterly financial reports to engineering and leadership with insights, trends, and forecasts.
- Define and enforce tagging, budgeting, and allocation strategies across accounts, regions, and environments.

Optimization Efficiency
- Partner with engineering to identify right-sizing opportunities, scaling policies (HPA/VPA/Karpenter), and storage optimization.
- Conduct regular reviews of EC2/RDS/EKS spend, reserved instances, savings plans, and committed use discounts.
- Benchmark alternative hosting models (AWS vs on-prem vs hybrid vs other cloud) for cost and performance trade-offs.

Forecasting Planning
- Own cloud cost forecasting models for both short-term (monthly/quarterly) and long-term (3 5 year projections).
- Partner with Procurement and Finance to ensure cloud spend stays aligned with budgets and POs.
- Support deal models by projecting cost impact of new market launches and scale-ups.

Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the bridge between engineering and finance teams translating technical deployments into financial impact.
- Support executive decision-making with what-if analyses and scenario planning.
- Educate teams on FinOps best practices through training and workshops.
Required Skills Qualifications

Experience Level:
Mid Senior (6 10 years relevant experience)

Technical
- Strong hands-on experience with
AWS Billing Cost Management tools (CUR, Cost Explorer, Savings Plans, RI Management, Budgets, etc.)
. - Experience with
cloud monitoring and visualization tools
(QuickSight, Grafana, CloudHealth, CloudCheckr, Apptio Cloudability, or equivalent). - Good understanding of
Kubernetes, EKS, scaling policies, and multi-account AWS setups
. - Strong Excel/SQL skills for ad-hoc financial analysis.
- Scripting/automation skills (Python, JavaScript, or Terraform for FinOps automation) are a plus.

Functional
- Solid grasp of financial principles: budgeting, forecasting, unit economics, TCO/ROI analysis.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Leadership).
- Excellent communication skills to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (or willingness to get certified).
- Experience with multi-cloud (GCP/Azure/OCI) environments.
- Prior experience in
Telecom SaaS or large-scale subscription platforms
is a plus. - Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset with attention to detail.
