Role & responsibilities

Job Title: Manager Foundry

Department:

Educational Qualification:

• B.Tech / B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering

  (mandatory)
• Additional certifications in Foundry Technology / Casting / Quality Management will be an added advantage

Experience:

• 10–15 years

  of experience in foundry Operations
• Hands-on experience in

  melting, alloying, casting, heat treatment, and metallurgical quality control

Key Responsibilities:

1. Foundry Operations Management

• Plan, organize, and supervise day-to-day

  melting, casting, fettling, and heat treatment

  operations.
• Monitor

  furnace performance

  , metal recovery, and casting yields.
• Ensure smooth operation of

  melting furnaces (oil/gas/electric)

  , ladles, and moulding lines.
• Oversee

  mould and core preparation, metal pouring, and solidification

  processes.

2. Process Control & Metallurgy

• Ensure correct

  alloy compositions

  and maintain metallurgical quality parameters.
• Implement and monitor

  process control techniques

  such as temperature control, degassing, grain refinement, and inclusion removal.
• Troubleshoot

  defects

  such as porosity, shrinkage, inclusions, and cracks, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain proper documentation for

  heat logs, melt records, and metallurgical analysis.

3. Quality Assurance

• Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure compliance with

  customer specifications and industry standards

  (ASTM, ISO, etc.).
• Conduct

  microstructure analysis, spectrometer testing, hardness testing, tensile testing, and NDT

  as required.
• Drive

  root cause analysis (RCA)

  and implement

  corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

  .

4. Production Planning & Cost Control

• Prepare

  production schedules

  , ensure on-time delivery, and optimize resource utilization.
• Control

  melting losses, material consumption, and power/fuel costs.

• Identify and implement

  process improvements, cost-saving, and yield enhancement

  initiatives.

5. Equipment & Maintenance

• Coordinate with the maintenance team for

  preventive and predictive maintenance

  of foundry equipment.
• Ensure availability and calibration of

  furnaces, moulding machines, cranes, and testing equipment.

6. Team Management & Safety

• Lead and mentor a team of

  supervisors, operators, and technicians

  .
• Conduct regular

  skill development and safety training

  sessions.
• Ensure strict adherence to

  EHS (Environment, Health & Safety)

  standards and housekeeping norms.

7. Coordination & Reporting

• Liaise with

  design, production planning, quality, and procurement

  teams for smooth operations.
• Prepare and present

  daily, weekly, and monthly production and quality reports.

• Participate in

  management reviews and audits

  related to foundry operations.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of

  non-ferrous metallurgy

  , especially

  aluminium and its alloys

• Proficiency in

  casting simulation software

  (MAGMA / ProCAST) preferred
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong leadership and communication abilities
• Sound understanding of

  ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 systems

• Data-driven approach to production and quality improvement

Performance Indicators:

  rejection and rework rates

• Improvement in

  metal yield and furnace efficiency

• Achievement of

  production targets and quality KPIs

• Compliance with

  safety and environmental standards

• Cost optimization and process improvement initiatives
