electronic instruments, test & measurement devices, industrial

automation, or instrumentation products industry.

About the Role

Polmon, a leading manufacturer of electronic instruments and industrial instrumentation products, is

seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Manager to lead the mechanical and enclosure design efforts

for next-generation electronic devices. The role involves end-to-end ownership of enclosure design,

material selection, manufacturability, ruggedness, and coordination across cross-functional teams to

deliver high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical & Enclosure Design:

• Lead the design and development of enclosures for electronic instruments, including sheetmetal,

plastic, and die-cast housings.

• Develop and review 3D models, detailed drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using

SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD.

• Define and validate surface finishing, painting, powder coating, anodizing, and other surfacetreatment

processes.

Technical & Engineering Excellence:

• Ensure designs meet requirements for mechanical integrity, manufacturability, ergonomics,

and long-term durability.

• Incorporate critical engineering considerations such as IP ratings, thermal behavior, vibration

resistance, EMI/EMC compliance, and structural strength.

• Review tolerance stack-ups and apply GD&T principles for precision and reliability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with electronics, PCB design, firmware, and production, quality, and procurement

teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

• Coordinate with external vendors for prototyping, tooling, and manufacturing to ensure design

feasibility and quality.

• Lead prototype validation, testing, and design refinement based on field and production

feedback.

Project & Team Leadership:

• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and engineering

accuracy.

• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in mechanical design and documentation.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in mechanical and enclosure design for electronic products or instrumentation

devices.

• Hands-on experience in sheet metal design, plastic part design, die-cast design, and related

manufacturing processes.

• Solid understanding of thermal, vibration, structural and environmental design considerations.

• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor, and working knowledge of AutoCAD.

• Strong knowledge of tolerances, GD&T, DFM/DFA, and engineering documentation.

• Experience in vendor management, tooling discussions, and prototype evaluations.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
