Maintenance Engineer

Job Title: Maintenance Engineer Department: Maintenance Location: Thuraipakkam OMR Chennai-96 Reports To: Facility Manager Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to oversee and perform maintenance operations of machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and/or electrical background with hands-on experience in preventive and corrective maintenance. Key Responsibilities (Civil & Electrical Maintenance): General Responsibilities: Plan, schedule, and implement preventive and corrective maintenance for all civil and electrical infrastructure. Maintain and update maintenance logs, service reports, and equipment records. Ensure compliance with safety standards, legal codes, and regulations for civil structures and electrical systems. Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and ensure minimal downtime. Civil Maintenance Responsibilities: Inspect, maintain, and repair structural elements such as buildings, roofs, floors, plumbing, drainage, concrete, and masonry. Monitor the condition of civil infrastructure and perform regular site inspections. Coordinate with contractors for civil renovation, construction, or major repair projects. Ensure upkeep of internal roads, waterproofing, painting, and basic carpentry works. Supervise civil maintenance staff or vendors on site to ensure quality and timely delivery. Electrical Maintenance Responsibilities: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems including panels, wiring, lighting, motors, and distribution boards. Perform load calculations, cable sizing, and ensure grounding and earthing systems are functional and compliant. Monitor and maintain electrical equipment like transformers, generators, UPS systems, and HVAC controls. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards or faults and take proactive action. Maintain electrical compliance with local regulations and standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, IS codes). Coordination & Support: Coordinate with facility management, production, safety, and utility teams to ensure smooth operations. Liaise with vendors and contractors for AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts) and major repair works. Participate in energy-saving initiatives and ensure optimal performance of utility services. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or related field. 2–5 years of experience in a maintenance or engineering role preferably in Hospital industry.
