Maintenance Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. Breakdown Maintenance

• Carry out

  preventive and breakdown maintenance

  of EOT crane electrical systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot

  LT/CT/Hoist motors, brakes, control panels, VFDs, contactors, relays, limit switches, and pendant/remote controls

  .
• Inspect and maintain

  power supply systems

  (DSL, festoon, busbar).
• Diagnose electrical faults and restore crane operation with minimum downtime.
  
• Ensure proper

  earthing, insulation, and cable health

  .
• Attend

  mechanical breakdowns

  of EOT cranes with minimum response time.
• Diagnose root causes of failures such as:
  
• Gearbox seizure
  
• Wire rope damage
  
• Brake failures
  
• Wheel and bearing failures
  
• Misalignment and abnormal vibrations
  
• Carry out

  repair, replacement, or adjustment

  of faulty mechanical components.
• Restore crane operation safely within stipulated downtime.
  
• Perform

  trial run and functional checks

  after rectification.

2. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure maintenance activities comply with

  safety standards and statutory requirements

  .
• Follow

  lock-out / tag-out (LOTO)

  procedures before maintenance work.
• Ensure use of proper

  PPE and safe lifting practices

  .
• Stop crane operation if unsafe conditions are identified.
  
• Ensure cranes are maintained as per

  Factory Act / IS standards

  .

3. Inspection & Condition Monitoring

• Conduct regular

  condition monitoring

  :
• Abnormal noise
  
• Vibration
  
• Overheating
  
• Wear and tear
  
• Monitor

  wire rope condition

  , sheave groove wear, and hook deformation.
• Ensure periodic

  load testing support

  (mechanical readiness).
• Maintain crane health status and recommend overhauls when required.
  

4. Spares & Inventory Coordination

• Identify and recommend

  critical mechanical spares

  .
• Coordinate with stores for availability of:
  
• Bearings
  
• Wire ropes
  
• Brake linings
  
• Seals, couplings, gears
  
• Monitor spares consumption and raise indents when required.
  

5. Documentation & Records

• Maintain records of:
  
• Preventive maintenance checklists
  
• Breakdown history
  
• Spare replacements
  
• Inspection reports
  
• Prepare

  failure analysis and corrective action reports

  .
• Maintain crane-wise maintenance history and compliance records.
  

6. Coordination & Support

• Coordinate with:
  
• Electrical maintenance team
  
• Production department
  
• Safety department
  
• Support statutory inspections and third-party audits.
  
• Assist during crane shutdowns and major overhauls.
  

Preferred candidate profile

Preferred Candidate Profile

• ITI/Diploma / BE in

  Electrical / Mechanical Engineering

  .

• 3 to 6 years

  of experience in

  EOT crane electrical maintenance

  .
• Strong knowledge of

  preventive and breakdown maintenance

  of crane electrical systems.
• Hands-on experience with

  motors, brakes, limit switches, pendant controls, VFDs, PLC basics, and control panels

  .
• Ability to diagnose electrical faults and restore crane operation quickly.
  
• Familiar with

  electrical safety practices

  , LOTO, and statutory crane requirements.
• Good coordination skills with maintenance, production, and safety teams.
  
• Willing to work in

  shift operations and emergency breakdowns

  .
