Job Summary

Life Insurance Underwriting Executive

The position involves evaluating underwriting inputs, preparing and managing RFQs, coordinating with insurers, analyzing risk parameters, supporting pricing decisions, and ensuring accurate policy issuance for individual and group life insurance products.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze underwriting documents including proposal forms, medical reports, financials, and declarations.
• Evaluate risk factors such as age, health, occupation, income, and lifestyle for life insurance proposals.
• Prepare, float, and manage RFQs (Requests for Quotation) with multiple life insurers for individual and group life insurance cases.
• Coordinate with insurance companies for underwriting decisions, loadings, exclusions, medical requirements, and special terms.
• Analyze RFQ responses, compare underwriting terms and premiums, and prepare insurer comparison sheets.
• Support underwriting for individual and group life insurance products (term life, credit life, group life, etc.).
• Assist in pricing discussions and underwriting negotiations based on RFQ outcomes.
• Assist in policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and underwriting-related documentation.
• Maintain accurate underwriting records, RFQ trackers, case notes, and decision logs.
• Prepare Excel-based underwriting MIS, RFQ trackers, case status reports, and premium comparison sheets.
• Support sales and servicing teams by explaining underwriting outcomes, RFQ results, terms, and conditions to clients.
• Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, internal SOPs, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

• Basic to good understanding of life insurance underwriting concepts and risk assessment.
• Understanding of RFQ processes and insurer quotation analysis in life insurance.
• Knowledge of life insurance products and premium structures.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (comparisons, trackers, formulas, basic analysis).
• Ability to interpret medical and financial underwriting inputs.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to manage multiple underwriting and RFQ cases simultaneously in a time-sensitive environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Internship or prior exposure to life insurance underwriting, RFQs, operations, or policy servicing (preferred but not mandatory).
• Certification or coursework in insurance/underwriting will be an added advantage.
