Legal Officer

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Legal Officer to manage the company's legal affairs, ensure statutory compliance, and provide legal support across departments. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and vetting legal documents, handling litigation matters, advising management on legal risks, and coordinating with various government authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and vet contracts, agreements, MoUs, NDAs, and legal notices.
  
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and statutory requirements.
  
• Handle legal documentation related to corporate, labour, commercial, and regulatory matters.
  
• Coordinate and liaise with various government departments and authorities, such as the Pollution Control Board, RIICO, Factory Inspectorate, Labour Department, and other statutory bodies.

• Assist in obtaining, renewing, and maintaining statutory licenses, approvals, consents, and registrations.
  
• Coordinate with external advocates, consultants, and legal advisors.
  
• Manage litigation matters, including case tracking, documentation, and follow-ups.
  
• Provide legal opinions and advisory support to management and internal departments.
  
• Oversee legal compliance related to HR, vendor agreements, and operational activities.
  
• Maintain proper records of legal documents, statutory filings, cases, and correspondence.
  
• Assist in identifying legal risks and ensuring timely mitigation.
  
• Stay updated with amendments in laws and regulations impacting the organisation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised university.
  
• Enrollment with the State Bar Council is mandatory.
  
• 25 years of relevant experience in a corporate or law firm environment.
  
• Hands-on experience in dealing with government authorities and statutory bodies.
  
• Working knowledge of labour laws, environmental laws, and corporate compliance.
