Role Summary

drafting and vetting legal documents

This position requires strong knowledge of Indian laws, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to coordinate with management, government authorities, and external legal professionals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Drafting & Documentation

  • Draft, vet, and review all types of legal documents including agreements (sale, lease, JV, MOU, service, vendor, employment, NDA, etc.).
  • Prepare legal notices, replies, affidavits, plaints, written statements, complaints, petitions, rejoinders, and other legal pleadings for civil and criminal cases.
  • Draft internal policies, undertakings, indemnities, and declarations for various business transactions.
  • Ensure all documents are legally sound, enforceable, and aligned with statutory and company requirements.

2. Litigation Management (Civil & Criminal)

  • Handle and coordinate all ongoing civil and criminal cases related to the company—property disputes, recovery, cheque bounce, trespassing, arbitration, etc.
  • Liaise with external advocates, law firms, and government bodies for case filings, appearances, and hearings.
  • Maintain litigation trackers, case records, and monitor court proceedings and outcomes.
  • Represent the company in police stations, courts, tribunals, and statutory authorities when required.

3. Compliance & Advisory

  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws (Companies Act, RERA, Contract Act, IPC, CrPC, etc.).
  • Provide legal opinions and advisory notes to management on various operational matters.
  • Keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the company’s business.
  • Coordinate for registration, documentation, and due diligence of properties or business assets.

4. Coordination & Liaison

  • Work closely with internal departments (HR, Finance, Projects, Purchase, etc.) to provide legal guidance.
  • Liaise with external agencies, advocates, courts, government departments, and local authorities.
  • Support management in dispute resolution and negotiation of settlements.

5. Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Maintain an updated repository of legal documents, case files, and agreements.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on litigation status, legal risks, and compliance updates.
  • Implement document control systems for easy retrieval and audit readiness.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:

    LL.B. (Full-time) from a recognized university. English Schooling is preferred.
  • Experience:

    4–6 years of experience in legal drafting, civil & criminal litigation handling, and corporate legal work.
  • Industry Preference:

    Real estate, infrastructure, construction, or corporate legal departments.
  • Technical / Legal Skills:

    • Sound knowledge of civil and criminal procedure laws, evidence act, contract law, company law, and property laws.
    • Strong drafting and vetting ability (legal documents, pleadings, notices).
    • Familiarity with court procedures, filing processes, and liaison with advocates.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and legal document management.
