Role dimensions of a Senior Legal Counsel IP:
- Contributing to the companys innovation process, including interacting with inventors and business stakeholders for patentability assessment. - Drafting patent applications in software and electronics domain, handling office action responses and working with external patent counsel. - Searching patent databases and providing patentability and freedom to operate assessments.
- Preparing and drafting specifications and claims for patent applications in the USPTO, EPO, Indian Patent Office and other jurisdictions. - Sensitizing and training technology teams about the patent application process as well as risks associated with patent infringement. - Translating complex Patent concepts to a language that engineers and senior management can easily understand to ensure cross-flow of education. - Keeping track of developments in IP laws and supporting the IP groups evolving Patent policies, key metrics and governance processes
