Job Description

Mission of the Role

To develop safe, bio-based, and circular chemical solutions for coatings, adhesives, andprocessingenabling compostable and recyclable packaging without performancetrade-offs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Developbio-based formulations including natural barrier coatings and renewableadhesives that replace PFAS with safe, compostable alternatives whilemaintaining high performance and regulatory safety.

2. Innovatecircular and recovery-friendly chemistries that integrate seamlessly withpulping processes, ensuring compost-safe formulations aligned with sustainableproduct lifecycles.

3. Establishand lead pilot lab operations to design, test, and scale solvent-free coatingand adhesive systems from lab formulations to production-ready, commerciallyviable solutions.

4. Ensurefood-contact safety and global regulatory compliance by adhering to FDA and EUstandards, proactively eliminating hazardous substances from all formulations.

5. Validateproduct performance through OTR/WVTR and functional tests, benchmarking againstplastics and verifying process compatibility on converting and coating lines.

6. Drive IPcreation by filing patents for novel chemistries, tracking competitive patents,and safeguarding Pakkas innovations while fostering strategic partnershipswith universities and industry collaborators.

7. Integratesustainability by assessing cradle-to-cradle impact, quantifying carbonfootprint, ensuring low-impact sourcing, and supporting commercializationthrough case studies, brand collaborations, and internal capability building ingreen chemistry.

Qualifications

Masters orPh.D. degree in one of the following fields:

Green Chemistry / Organic Chemistry
Polymer Science / Polymer Chemistry
Chemical Engineering
Materials Science
Sustainable Chemistry or related disciplines

Experience

10+ years of experience in RD or product development in coatings, adhesives, or chemical formulations.
Proven track record in bio-based or circular chemistry innovations .
Hands-on experience with pilot labs, validation, and scaling .
Familiarity with regulatory compliance (FDA/EU) for food-contact materials.

Skills

Expertise in formulation chemistry and material testing .
Strong background in polymer processing and coating technologies .
Proficiency in IP creation and protection .
Ability to work cross-functionally with RD, production, and sustainability teams.
Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills.
