How will you make an impact?

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced MER Lead to join our dynamic team in the healthcare insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and proven leadership in medical underwriting or tele-assessment operations. In this role, you will oversee a team of trained medical professionals who conduct telephonic assessments and review clinical information for insurance applications. Your expertise will ensure the accuracy of health declarations and their impact on policy decisions. As the primary clinical reviewer and signatory, you will also be responsible for maintaining quality assurance standards and driving team training initiatives.

What will you get to do?

  • MER Oversight
    • Review and validate Medical Examination Reports (MERs) prepared by the internal team based on client tele-interviews.
    • Sign off on MERs in line with insurer underwriting guidelines.
    • Identify, flag, and assess complex or medically ambiguous cases for further evaluation.
  • Team Building & Supervision
    • Lead and mentor a team of qualified medical professionals (e.g., B.Sc Nursing, GNM, BHMS, BAMS, BDS).
    • Train team members on interview protocols, medical documentation standards, and insurer-specific workflows.
    • Monitor team performance to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.
  • Medical Compliance & Quality Control
    • Ensure all MERs meet medical accuracy, insurer requirements, and regulatory compliance.
    • Maintain high documentation standards and escalate quality deviations for corrective action.
    • Conduct periodic audits and provide feedback for continuous quality improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with sales and product teams to optimize workflows and define process enhancements.
    • Collaborate with insurance partner underwriting teams to align on updated medical criteria and review guidelines.

Skills We Are Looking For

  • 1 - 3 years of clinical practice or relevant documentation/assessment experience
  • Exposure to telemedicine, insurance, TPA, or medical documentation is a plus
  • Experience leading teams is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Strong clinical reasoning and judgment
  • Comfortable with structured documentation and digital tools (EMRs, CRMs)
  • Excellent communication and training abilities
  • Detail-oriented, ethical, and process-driven
