Role Description

Job Title: Data Engineer (GCP)

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled

Data Engineer

with deep expertise in

SQL

,

Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

, and associated data engineering tools. The ideal candidate will play a key role in cloud data migration, pipeline development, and workflow orchestration. Candidates should be flexible to work during overlapping hours with the onsite team and must be comfortable participating in client and cross-regional meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries for large-scale data processing.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines using GCP tools such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Apache Airflow.
  • Support and contribute to ongoing GCP migration projects in the client environment.
  • Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and deployment processes.
  • Write and maintain shell scripts to support automation and operational tasks.
  • Collaborate with offshore, onsite, and client teams, attending meetings and providing status updates as required.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work during overlapping hours (up to 8:30 PM IST) based on business needs.

Primary Skills

  • Strong expertise in SQL with hands-on experience in query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Proficient in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, especially:
    • BigQuery
    • Dataflow
    • Cloud Storage
  • Experience in Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
  • Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines and release management.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across geographically distributed teams.

Secondary Skills

  • Shell scripting for automation and task scheduling.
  • Experience working on GCP cloud migration activities in a client-facing environment.
  • Understanding of data transformation and ETL best practices in cloud environments.

Good to Have Skills:

.
  • Familiarity with other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) and DevOps tooling.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
