Lead Design Engineer (Solar PV - Electrical & Structural)

Role Description

• Lead the structural design and analysis of Module Mounting Structures (MMS) for various soil conditions and wind zones.
• Perform detailed structural analysis and validation using

  STAAD Pro

  , including wind load, seismic load, and dead load calculations to ensure structural stability and code compliance (IS 875, IS 800)
• Oversee the design of foundations (pile, raft, or isolated footings) based on geotechnical investigation reports
• Generate and approve all structural drawings, fabrication drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for the MMS
• Create optimized solar plant layouts using PVsyst and AutoCAD to maximize energy yield (kWh/MWp) and minimize losses
• Conduct detailed DC & AC engineering, including stringing configuration, cable sizing, inverter and transformer selection, and fault level calculations
• Design the plant's MV pooling substation, including switchgear, protection schemes, and earthing systems
• Design the complete high-voltage (HV) power evacuation system, from the plant substation to the utility grid
• Oversee route surveys and design the transmission line (overhead or underground) and associated structures
• Design the high-voltage bay at the utility (TRANSCO) substation, ensuring full compliance with their technical specifications, protection schemes, and metering requirements
• Act as the primary technical authority in all design-related discussions and approval meetings with state transmission utilities

Qualifications

• 12-18 years of comprehensive design experience in the solar industry, with a proven track record on multiple ground-mounted projects of 50 MW+ scale
• Expert-level proficiency in

  STAAD Pro

  for solar structure design and analysis is non-negotiable
• Demonstrable, hands-on experience designing power evacuation lines and HV substation bays (66kV, 132kV, or 220kV)
• B.E. / B.Tech in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering. A Master's degree is highly preferred
• Expert in STAAD Pro, PVsyst, and AutoCAD. Proficiency in ETAP or PLS-CADD is a significant advantage
• Proficiency in Design Engineering and Product Design
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
• Ability to work on-site in Hyderabad
