.This role offers a hands-on technical leadership opportunity for an experienced data engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable data platforms and pipelines. You will work on modern cloud-native architectures, building reliable APIs and microservices that power data-driven products. The role involves collaborating closely with product, engineering, and architecture teams while mentoring junior engineers. You will be responsible for ensuring high standards in software craftsmanship, observability, and maintainability, making a direct impact on the performance and scalability of the organization's data infrastructure.

Accountabilities

  • Architect, design, and implement scalable data pipelines, APIs, and microservices for efficient data access and analytics
  • Develop modular, testable, and maintainable services to process large volumes of structured and semi-structured data
  • Design and maintain data models, schemas, and storage solutions aligned with data lake and warehouse best practices
  • Implement robust CI/CD pipelines and enforce SDLC best practices including automated testing and code reviews
  • Utilize AWS services (Glue, Athena, Kinesis, Lambda, IoT Core, S3) to build secure, scalable infrastructure
  • Ensure observability through logging, monitoring, and tracing of pipelines and services
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and data scientists, to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting clean architecture and software engineering best practices

Requirements

  • 6-9 years of experience in data engineering or backend software development, including 1-2 years in a leadership or architectural role
  • Proficiency in Python and JavaScript
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Airbyte, and Airflow
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering practices, microservices architecture, design patterns, RESTful APIs, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Solid experience with SQL, data modeling, and managing large-scale data
  • Deep experience with AWS data services: Glue, Athena, Kinesis, IoT Core, Lambda, S3, and CloudWatch
  • Experience with containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes orchestration
  • Strong analytical and architectural problem-solving skills
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and mentoring capabilities
  • Preferred: experience with event-driven architectures, streaming data, DevOps practices, cloud-native deployments, and data security/compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
