Lead Curriculum Lab Developer

As the Lead Curriculum Lab Developer, you will drive the design, testing, deployment, and publishing of hands-on labs across Instructor-led, Self-paced, and Blended learning courses. You will lead a team of lab developers while partnering with curriculum developers and platform engineers to deliver high-quality, reliable labs that scale globally. This role plays a critical part in shaping Databricks’ curriculum strategy, ensuring operational excellence, and aligning cross-functional efforts to enable innovation and growth.

Your role and responsibilities

• Set the technical direction and establish best practices to ensure scalable, high-quality lab development.
• Mentor and guide lab developers, serving as the team’s technical expert while ensuring consistent adherence to defined processes.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scopes, deliverables, and timelines, while managing project risks and dependencies effectively.
• Lead ongoing lab maintenance, including proactive testing and bug fixes.
• Collaborate with curriculum and platform teams to align lab solutions with business priorities and learner needs.
•  Drive efficiency and innovation in lab publishing and testing through automation and technical improvements.

Skill Sets:

• 7+ years development experience with Apache Spark™, Databrick, and Python framework
• Proficiency in PySpark, Python, DB API Integration, DB SDK, and SQL
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (Notebooks, Jobs, Workflows, Delta Lake)
• Experience working with modern orchestration, CI/CD, and version control tools (Git, job orchestration pipelines).
• Strong problem-solving, planning, cross-functional team coordination, and program management skills to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
•  Proven experience in troubleshooting production issues and delivering reliable technical support for large-scale learning events with thousands of participants.

Good to have:

• Familiarity with customer/partner education deliverables and hands-on lab platforms (e.g., Vocareum).
• Exposure to either Machine Learning or Generative AI workflows within Databricks.
• Ability to design, build, and optimize robust pipelines for batch and streaming data (data extraction, transformation, cleansing, integration, and management).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience
• Databricks certified and/or Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, GCP) are a plus
