Consultant General Surgeon – Laparoscopic Surgery

A clinical role within the private secondary-care hospital and surgical services sector, focused on delivering high-quality general and minimally invasive surgical care to patients in Shahpura, Rajasthan. This on-site consultant position emphasizes laparoscopic procedures, emergency general surgery, and surgical leadership in a busy operating-theatre environment.

Role & Responsibilities
- Perform elective and emergency general surgical procedures—laparoscopic and open—including cholecystectomy, hernia repair, appendectomy and bowel surgery with consistent adherence to clinical protocols.
- Lead perioperative planning and decision-making: pre-operative assessment, intra-operative management, and post-operative care to optimise patient outcomes and reduce complications.
- Manage emergency surgical presentations and trauma cases, providing timely interventions and coordinating with anesthesia and critical care teams.
- Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents, and OT staff; ensure compliance with sterile technique, instrumentation handling and theatre safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate surgical logs, clinical documentation and operative outcome metrics; participate in morbidity & mortality reviews and clinical audits.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (anesthesiology, nursing, radiology, pathology) to streamline patient pathways and improve throughput.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- DNB or MD/MS in General Surgery with valid Indian medical registration.
- Proven hands-on experience performing laparoscopic procedures (cholecystectomy, hernia repair, appendectomy) in a hospital setting.
- Competence in managing emergency general surgical cases and perioperative critical care.
- Strong operative documentation and ability to track clinical outcomes and KPIs.
- Familiarity with OT workflows, instrument sets, and theatre safety protocols.
- Willingness to work on-site with flexible availability for emergencies and on-call schedules.
Preferred
- Fellowship or certification in Minimal Access / Laparoscopic Surgery.
- Prior experience as a consultant or senior registrar in a comparable hospital environment.
- Experience in teaching, clinical audit leadership, or quality-improvement initiatives.
