Job Description

Summary:

The Lab Assistant for the Embedded Systems Lab plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the lab, ensuring a safe and productive environment for students, researchers, and faculty. This position involves providing technical assistance, maintaining lab equipment, and helping with the development and delivery of lab exercises. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of embedded systems concepts, be proficient in using relevant tools and equipment, and possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support:

  • Assist students with hands-on lab exercises and projects, providing guidance on hardware and software setup.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues encountered by students with micro controllers, development boards, sensors, and other lab equipment.
  • Clarify lab instructions and embedded systems concepts as needed.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide feedback on their work.
  • Lab Maintenance and Management:

  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, and soldering stations.
  • Manage and track inventory of electronic components, tools, and supplies.
  • Report any damaged or non-functional equipment to the Lab Manager or faculty.
  • Technical Assistance and Development:

  • Assist faculty and researchers with setting up hardware and software for new lab experiments and projects.
  • Help in the development and testing of new lab exercises, tutorials, and demonstration materials.
  • Create and update documentation for lab equipment, software, and procedures.
  • Provide technical support for specialized embedded systems projects.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prefer B. Tech. but willing to consider Diploma (with 2+ years experience) in Electronics and related areas.
  • Proficient in using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Basic knowledge of PCB design and soldering is a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized.


Preferred Skills:

  • Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM, AVR, PIC).
  • Experience with embedded C/C++ programming, would be preferred.
  • Familiarity with common communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART).
  • Hands-on experience with embedded development tools (e.g., IDEs like Arduino IDE, VS Code, Keil, STM32CubeIDE).
