L2 Detection Engineer

Job Title

Role Summary

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain SIEM correlation rules, dashboards, and reports to detect malicious behavior.
Translate threat intelligence, TTPs, and incident learnings into new or improved detections.
Continuously tune existing rules to reduce noise and improve alert fidelity.
Collaborate with SOC analysts, threat hunters, and TI teams to identify detection gaps.
Test and validate new rules in lower environments before production deployment.
Maintain documentation for all use cases, including logic, data sources, and expected outcomes.
Support onboarding of new log sources and validate data quality and field mappings.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong experience with at least one major SIEM platform (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel, Chronicle).
Good understanding of log formats, parsing, normalization, and query languages (e.g., SPL, KQL).
Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK mapping and detection engineering best practices.
Scripting/programming skills (Python, PowerShell, regex) for data manipulation.
Preferred certifications: vendor SIEM certifications, threat hunting/detection courses.
