Position Overview

The Junior Sous Chef will assist in managing kitchen operations, supervising culinary staff, and ensuring the preparation of high-quality, healthy, and innovative dishes. The role requires creativity, discipline, and a deep understanding of wellness-oriented cuisine while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Sous Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and menu execution.
  • Supervise and train junior kitchen staff to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes in line with Pema’s wellness philosophy and dietary standards.
  • Assist in menu planning, portion control, and recipe standardization.
  • Monitor inventory levels, assist in requisitions, and ensure cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (FSSAI).
  • Collaborate with nutritionists and the culinary team to design and execute health-focused meals.
  • Assist in handling guest dietary requirements, special requests, and feedback.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment at all times.
  • Act as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and service excellence.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management or Culinary Arts from a recognized institute.
  • 3–5 years of culinary experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Prior experience in wellness cuisine, health-focused resorts, or fine dining is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of global cuisines, with an emphasis on healthy cooking methods.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining quality standards.
  • Passion for wellness, creativity in menu planning, and attention to detail.
