Job Description


Position Title: Practical Lab Assistant – Hospitality & Hotel Management


Department:


Reports To:


Job Purpose:

To provide operational support in the practical training labs (Food Production, F&B Service,

Housekeeping, and Front Office), ensuring smooth conduct of classes, maintenance of

equipment, availability of materials, and compliance with hygiene and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

Lab Preparation & Setup

1.      Assist faculty in preparing labs before practical sessions (mise-en-place, arranging tools, setting up housekeeping areas, etc.).

2.      Ensure availability of raw materials, cutlery, crockery, linen, cleaning supplies, and training aids.

3.      Check equipment (stoves, ovens, housekeeping machines, service counters, etc.) before use.


·        Student & Faculty Support

1.      Guide students in handling tools, equipment, and materials safely.

2.      Provide operational support during practicals, workshops, and events.

3.      Demonstrate basic procedures when required (knife skills, table setup, bed-making, cleaning techniques, etc.).


Inventory & Store Coordination

1.      Issue and collect tools, utensils, and equipment from students during practicals.

2.      Maintain records of consumables and coordinate with the storekeeper for replenishment.

3.      Prevent misuse or wastage of materials.


Maintenance & Safety

1.      Clean, sanitize, and maintain equipment, utensils, and training areas after practical sessions.

2.      Report any damages, repairs, or malfunctioning equipment to faculty/administration.

3.      Ensure labs follow hygiene, food safety, and occupational safety protocols.


Administrative & Event Support

1.      Assist in organizing institutional events, competitions, and workshops.

2.      Support faculty in demonstrations, guest lectures, and practical examinations.

3.      Maintain lab records, attendance sheets, and usage reports when required.


Required Qualifications & Skills:

·        Bachelor Degree from relevant field or Arts, Commerce or Science Background / 12 th

·        Pass with minimum 1 year experience in same position

·        Prior experience as a lab assistant, trainee chef, steward, or housekeeping staff preferred.

·        Basic knowledge of food production, service, housekeeping, and front office operations.

·        Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

·        Good communication and ability to assist students patiently.
