Job Description

About the Role We’re looking for a Support & Release Engineer with strong Java knowledge to help us scale and support our growing customer base. This role is first and foremost about keeping our systems stable, deployments smooth, and customer onboarding seamless. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring that our clients have a reliable, well-supported experience from day one. This is not a pure development role — it’s ideal for someone who is support focused but comfortable working with code to improve stability, tooling, and processes. Your Mission: Be the front line of technical support — triage issues, support customers, and liaise between business and engineering. Contribute to backend code — fix bugs, add integrations and build tools that support support. Manage our release processes — own deployments and ensure smooth, repeatable delivery of new versions. Take ownership of onboarding — make it faster, smoother, and more scalable for new clients. What You’ll Do : Support & Triage: Act as first-line support for internal teams and clients. Investigate issues, identify patterns, and escalate effectively. Release Management: Own deployments to AWS and Azure. Improve build and deployment reliability with CI/CD pipelines and automation. Customer Onboarding: Lead the technical onboarding journey for new clients. Document and improve steps to reduce friction and repetition. Bug Fixing & Stability: Fix backend bugs in Java and contribute small improvements that enhance system reliability and supportability. Tooling & Monitoring: Improve support tooling, logging, and monitoring so issues are easier to detect and resolve quickly. Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, product, and customer teams to ensure a seamless experience for customers. What You’ll Bring : Flexibility – We require high availability and flexibility in supporting our UK customers and providing them with support excellence. You could be called upon at anytime. Support-first mindset – You’re energised by solving problems and helping others succeed. You enjoy being the go-to person for resolving production issues. Release know-how – Experience co-ordinating releases and deployments with working knowledge of CI/CD and scripting (e.g.Bash). Our infrastructure is AWS & Azure. Java proficiency – Comfortable navigating Java backend codebases to fix bugs, add integrations, or enhance stability. We use Java 8, MySQL with many API integrations. Spring boot experience is a plus. Process improvement – You love finding ways to make onboarding, deployments, and support more repeatable and less manual. Strong communication – Able to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams and communicate clearly with stakeholders. Bonus Skills : Exposure to DevOps and/or CI/CD.
