Java Support Lead

Job Title: Support Lead – Java Applications

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Support Lead with strong expertise in Java and database technologies to lead support operations for a complex, Java-based global application. This role involves managing a small team, handling production incidents, ensuring smooth operations, and driving continuous improvements in support processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead application support activities and act as the primary point of escalation for priority incidents.

Provide L2/L3 support for Java-based applications and associated components.

Perform in-depth troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis of production issues.

Support deployment and release management for new versions and patches.

Collaborate with onshore teams and mentor offshore support engineers.

Monitor and maintain system health, ensuring timely resolution of incidents within SLA.

Maintain and update operational documentation, runbooks, and issue logs.

Prepare and deliver weekly/monthly operational reports (ticket trends, incident status, RCA, etc.).

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong Java troubleshooting and debugging skills (Servlets, JSP, JDBC).

Hands-on experience with Oracle 19c (SQL/PL-SQL scripting, performance tuning, monitoring).

Proficiency in Unix/Linux (RHEL) – log analysis, cron jobs, shell commands.

Knowledge of IBM Liberty and Tomcat for application deployment and monitoring.

Experience with Shell Scripting (C-Shell/Bash) – script execution, debugging.

Familiarity with C/C++ executables in batch processing.

Understanding of frontend debugging (HTML, JavaScript).

Strong leadership, reporting, and incident management skills.
