Job Description

Job Title: IT Support Executive / IT Support Engineer

Department: Information Technology (IT)

Location: Kolkata

Reporting To: IT Manager / Head of IT

Job Purpose:

The IT Support Executive is responsible for maintaining the organizations IT systems, hardware, software, and networks. The role ensures smooth day-to-day technical operations by providing timely support, resolving user issues, and maintaining system reliability and data security.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical Support

  • Provide first-line support for hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Respond to IT support tickets, calls, and emails in a timely manner.
  • Ensure minimal downtime by resolving technical issues efficiently.

2. Network & System Maintenance

  • Monitor and maintain local area network (LAN), Wi-Fi, and internet connectivity.
  • Assist in setting up new systems and network configurations.
  • Maintain and update antivirus, firewalls, and security patches.
  • Perform regular data backups and ensure data recovery systems are functional.

3. Software & Application Support

  • Install, update, and troubleshoot operating systems and software applications.
  • Provide support for business applications (ERP, CRM, Accounting Software, etc.).
  • Coordinate with software vendors for issue resolution and updates.

4. IT Asset Management

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT assets, licenses, and accessories.
  • Track hardware and software allocation to employees.
  • Recommend upgrades or replacements for outdated systems.

5. Security & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain IT security policies and best practices.
  • Monitor systems for unauthorized access or security breaches.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and IT governance policies.

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain IT service logs and incident reports.
  • Document configurations, network maps, and system setups.
  • Provide weekly/monthly updates on IT performance and issue trends.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • 2–6 years of experience in IT support, hardware, or network management.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux operating systems and MS Office tools.
  • Basic understanding of networking (LAN/WAN, routers, switches, IP configuration).

Skills Required:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical ability.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple issues.
  • Knowledge of hardware troubleshooting and system configuration.
  • Familiarity with cloud systems (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365) is a plus.
