Department: Industry 4.0 / Automation / IoT

Role Overview

The IoT Engineer will be responsible for connecting machines, configuring industrial gateways, integrating sensors, and creating dashboards for real-time monitoring. The role includes working with PLCs, SCADA/MES systems, industrial protocols, and analytics tools to enable Industry 4.0 in manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Connectivity & Data Acquisition

Connect PLCs, presses, CNCs, and shop-floor machines to IoT gateways.

Configure communication with SCADA / MES systems.

Set up industrial protocols like OPC UA, Modbus TCP/RTU, MQTT for machine data.

Perform PLC/CNC data acquisition and real-time data logging.

2. Sensor Installation & Calibration

Install and calibrate sensors:

Vibration

Current

Temperature

Counters / proximity sensors

Validate sensor data accuracy and signal quality.

3. IoT Gateway & Edge Computing

Configure edge gateways, industrial PCs, or data loggers.

Manage connectivity between machines, gateways, and cloud/on-prem systems.

Troubleshoot shop-floor connectivity and data quality issues.

4. Dashboard & Visualization Development

Develop dashboards for production and maintenance teams (Grafana, Power BI, Ignition, ThingsBoard, Kepware, Node-RED).

Design KPIs like OEE, downtime, cycle time, productivity.

Maintain and update dashboards based on plant requirements.

5. Alerts & Monitoring

Configure alerts for:

Downtime

Overload

Abnormal vibration

High temperature

Implement notification systems through email / SMS / WhatsApp alerts.

. Data Integration & Backend

Integrate IoT data with MES / ERP systems.

Work with maintenance and production teams to capture root causes of downtime and alarms.

Use REST APIs / JSON / webhooks for system integration.

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability

Good communication with production, maintenance & IT teams

Ability to work independently on shop-floor projects

Qualification

Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, IT, or related field.

Experience in industrial automation / IoT preferred.
