Job Summary:

The Investigative Journalist and Anchor is responsible for researching, developing, and delivering in-depth news stories that uncover facts, reveal truths, and hold individuals or organizations accountable. This role combines the analytical skills of investigative reporting with the communication and presentation abilities of a news anchor. The ideal candidate demonstrates journalistic integrity, strong on-air presence, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

Investigative Journalism

  • Research, identify, and develop exclusive investigative stories on topics of public interest.
  • Gather and analyze data, documents, and records through public sources, FOIA requests, and interviews.
  • Conduct background checks, fact-checking, and verification to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  • Collaborate with editors, producers, and legal teams to ensure stories meet ethical and legal standards.
  • Produce detailed reports, exposés, and long-form content for digital, print, and broadcast platforms.

Anchoring & Presentation

  • Present daily or weekly news segments and special reports in a clear, engaging, and professional manner.
  • Write and edit scripts for news broadcasts, live segments, and investigative features.
  • Conduct live and recorded interviews with key newsmakers, experts, and sources.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism during breaking news or live broadcasts.
  • Represent the news organization at public events, press conferences, and community engagements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in investigative reporting and/or news anchoring.
  • Strong storytelling, research, and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • On-camera presence with the ability to deliver news confidently and credibly.
  • Familiarity with newsroom software, data visualization tools, and social media platforms.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with multimedia storytelling (video, audio, online).
  • Knowledge of media law, ethics, and freedom of information procedures.
  • Ability to manage confidential sources and sensitive information.
  • Strong editing and production skills.
