Key Responsibilities & Duties The role can be broadly divided into four main areas: Documentation, Coordination, Compliance, and Strategy. 1. Documentation (The Core of the Job)Prepare, verify, and process all essential international trade documents accurately and on time. This includes: Commercial Invoices & Packing Lists Certificates of Origin Bill of Lading (B/L) or Air Waybill (AWB) Shipping Bills & Bills of Entry Insurance Certificates Import/Export Declarations Letters of Credit (L/C) Documentation 2. Coordination and Logistics Liaise with a network of partners to ensure smooth movement of goods: Freight Forwarders & Customs Brokers: To book cargo space and arrange transportation (sea, air, road). Shipping Lines & Airlines: To negotiate freight rates and schedules. Customs Authorities: To facilitate the clearance of goods. Warehouses & Transporters: For inland transportation and storage. Suppliers and Customers: To provide shipment updates and coordinate schedules. 3. Regulatory Compliance and Customs Clearance Ensure all activities adhere to national and international trade regulations. Classify products accurately using HS Codes (Harmonized System Codes) to determine correct duty rates. Handle customs clearance processes for both imports and exports. Stay updated on changes in trade agreements, sanctions, embargoes, and customs procedures. 4. Cost Management and Strategy Negotiate competitive rates with freight forwarders, carriers, and other service providers. Analyze and optimize shipping routes and methods to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Manage and track shipping budgets and costs. 5. Communication and Tracking Serve as the main point of contact for all parties involved in a shipment. Provide customers and internal teams with regular updates on shipment status. Track shipments from origin to destination and proactively resolve any delays or issues.
