Role Overview


IBM WebSphere DataPower Administrator / Engineer

Associate Director – Engineering and Operations (EAI platforms)


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, configure, and administer IBM WebSphere DataPower appliances.
  • Provision and rebuild new DataPower devices from scratch, ensuring operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with vendors during hardware/software failures, managing device replacements within SLA.
  • Perform secure and standard backups; restore devices when required.
  • Develop automation scripts using

    Python

    and

    Shell

    to streamline operations and engineering workflows.
  • Partner with development teams to provide solution design, feasibility analysis, and effort estimation.
  • Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve priority production issues; drive

    root cause analysis

    and permanent fixes.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Engineering, Operations, and Development to meet enterprise requirements.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies (Scrum/SAFe), team discussions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Provide

    24x7 operational support

    on a rotational basis for DataPower administration.


Professional & Technical Skills

Must-Have Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with

    IBM WebSphere DataPower

    (administration and development).
  • Proficiency in

    Python

    and

    Shell scripting

    for automation.
  • In-depth knowledge of

    web security standards

    (OAuth, SSL, CORS, JWT, etc.).
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Solid understanding of

    Agile principles

    (Scrum, SAFe).
  • Experience with

    Azure DevOps

    and

    GitHub

    for CI/CD pipelines and version control.


Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with application development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration platforms and API gateways.
  • Exposure to automation frameworks and DevOps best practices.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

    in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of overall IT experience

    including:
  • 3–5 years in system analysis or application programming.
  • 3+ years of hands-on

    IBM WebSphere DataPower

    administration.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex software issues.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and cross-team coordination skills.
