Job Description

We are seeking a senior HSE leader to head the Health, Safety & Environment function for our large-scale construction project in Jamnagar.


About the Role

The role will be responsible for driving a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, client requirements, and company standards, while implementing best practices in occupational health, industrial safety, and environmental management.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the HSE function for the Jamnagar construction site, ensuring compliance with national safety standards (Factories Act, OSH Code, etc.) and international guidelines (OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the site HSE plan, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and job safety analysis for all construction activities.
  • Drive safety training, toolbox talks, safety induction and awareness programs across all levels of site staff, contractors, and workers.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental norms, including waste management, pollution control, and sustainability practices.
  • Interface with clients, statutory authorities, and external agencies on all HSE matters.
  • Establish emergency preparedness & response plans (fire drills, evacuation drills, medical response).
  • Drive KPIs for Zero Harm, Near Miss reporting, and continual improvement in safety performance.
  • Manage and mentor the site HSE team, ensuring robust governance and reporting.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Civil / Electrical / Chemical preferred).
  • Diploma in Industrial Safety (mandatory, recognized by Govt. of India).
  • 15–20 years of HSE experience, with at least 8–10 years in large-scale EPC / construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian statutory requirements, international HSE standards, and construction safety practices.
  • Prior experience in refinery / petrochemical / oil & gas construction projects in Jamnagar or similar environment will be an added advantage.
  • Proven leadership and ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
