Job Description

The Senior Housekeeper is responsible for supporting the housekeeping department in maintaining high cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation standards across all guest rooms and public areas. The role involves supervising housekeeping staff, coordinating daily cleaning operations, and ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction through meticulous service delivery. Key Responsibilities Operational Duties Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of housekeeping staff, including room attendants and public area cleaners. Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleaning standards and hotel policies are consistently met. Ensure proper cleaning, sanitation, and restocking of guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and other designated areas. Monitor and enforce adherence to safety and hygiene standards for cleaning chemicals and equipment. Assign tasks and create shift schedules to optimize staff performance and coverage. Supervision & Training Provide guidance, training, and coaching to housekeeping team members to maintain quality standards. Conduct regular briefings and performance reviews with housekeeping staff. Assist in onboarding and mentoring new employees. Quality Control & Guest Service Respond to and resolve guest requests or complaints related to housekeeping services promptly and professionally. Perform routine quality checks and coordinate corrective actions when standards are not met. Inventory & Supplies Maintain inventory of housekeeping supplies and equipment and request restocking in a timely manner. Ensure proper storage and use of cleaning materials and linen par stocks. Interdepartmental Coordinate with Front Office for room readiness status and guest turn-down services. Liaise with Maintenance, Laundry, and other departments to handle repair requests and special cleaning tasks. Requirements & Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality qualification (diploma/degree) preferred. Experience: Prior housekeeping experience in a hotel, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or senior housekeeping role preferred. Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills. Good communication and interpersonal abilities. Detail-oriented with a focus on cleanliness and quality. Ability to handle guest concerns professionally. Familiarity with housekeeping tools, procedures, and safety protocols. Working Conditions This role requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting for extended periods. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts depending on hotel occupancy. Professional grooming and adherence to hotel uniform and presentation standards are mandatory.
