Horticulture Manager

Role & responsibilities

Supervise day-to-day horticulture activities, including maintenance of lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, and indoor building plants.

Ensure irrigation, pruning, manuring, pest control, and waste disposal are carried out as per schedules.

Conduct daily inspections of campus green zones to ensure cleanliness, plant health, and overall aesthetics.

Plan and execute seasonal plantation drives and beautification initiatives.

Monitor performance of in-house staff.

Prepare annual and project-specific budgets for horticulture operations, materials, and manpower.

Manage procurement of plants, planters, manure, fertilizers, tools, irrigation systems, and other horticultural supplies.

Prepare details (specifications, quantity estimates, and coordinate with the Purchase Department vendor finalization and wherever required have to do the purchase self.

Ensure cost-effective purchasing through proper vendor evaluation and rate comparison.

Track monthly expenses and ensure adherence to approved budgets.

Maintain updated records of all horticultural assets, tools, and equipment.

Keep detailed documentation of total green area, landscaped zones, and plant species data.

Prepare and update nursery stock registers, material consumption logs, and maintenance checklists.

Maintain a digital database or MIS for inventory, budget utilization, and activity tracking.

Proper follow of the SOP and with review if any changes required.

Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and institutional policies related to horticulture.

Maintain records for tree census, waste management, and sustainability audits.

Ensure com pliance with statutory norms for outsourced manpower, vendor documentation, and safety guidelines.

Coordinate during internal and external inspections or environmental audits.

Supervise horticulture staff on University and Vendor payroll supervisors, gardeners, and field staff.

Maintain daily attendance records and ensure adherence to shift timings and assigned duties.

Review contractor attendance and verify monthly bills based on verified deployment.

Address staff grievances and ensure compliance with HR and labor-related policies.

Conduct periodic training for staff on safe and effective horticultural practices.
