Job Summary The Horticulturist is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining landscape and horticulture areas. The role focuses on the upkeep of gardens, lawns, trees, nurseries, and green belts to ensure a healthy and aesthetic environment across the site or facility.
  • Key ResponsibilitiesA. Landscape Development & Maintenance
  • Plan, design, and implement landscaping projects.
  • Maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, and indoor/outdoor plants.
  • Oversee regular activities like mowing, pruning, weeding, trimming, watering, mulching, etc.
  • Ensure seasonal plantation and flower bed preparation.
  • Manage plant nurseries, sapling production, and plantation drives.
  • Recommend appropriate plants based on soil type, climate, and site conditions.
  • Monitor plant health and ensure timely pest and disease control.
  • Implement soil improvement and fertilization programs.
  • Supervise gardeners, helpers, and outsourced staff.
  • Allocate daily work schedules and monitor productivity.
  • Coordinate with vendors for supply of plants, fertilizers, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure AMCs (Annual Maintenance Contracts) are executed effectively.
  • Plan and monitor irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, manual watering).
  • Ensure proper maintenance of horticulture tools and machinery.
  • Follow environmental, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Ensure safe usage of pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Prepare daily/weekly reports on horticulture activities.
  • Maintain records of plant inventory, fertilizer usage, and manpower.
  • Prepare cost estimates for new horticulture work.
  • Knowledge of horticulture techniques, plant species, soil types, and irrigation.
  • Understanding of pest control and disease management.
  • Ability to supervise a team.
  • Vendor negotiation and cost control.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office/reporting).
  • Education: Diploma / B.Sc / M.Sc in Horticulture / Agriculture.
  • Experience: 2–8 years in landscaping, horticulture, nursery management, or site-level maintenance.
