Role & responsibilities

We are seeking a Acquisition and Development Specialist to play a critical role in identifying and developing opportunities to repurpose stranded geothermal assets, particularly existing sites with abandoned or underutilized wells. The ideal candidate will excel at sourcing opportunities, building partnerships, and advancing projects that align with our magma heat capture technology, which thrives in low-permeability environments where traditional geothermal projects have stalled. By leveraging advanced drilling technologies and strategic partnerships, we aim to revolutionize clean energy production globally.

Responsibilities

• Investor Development

  : Identify and secure meetings with well owners, or the institutional, sovereign, or strategic investors in the abandoned wells.

• Stranded Geothermal Opportunity Origination

  : Locate and assess geothermal projects globally with stalled or abandoned wells, focusing on sites with existing infrastructure and partially proven geology;

• Partnership Formation

  : Where necessary, build or expand your current strategic partnerships with stakeholders in energy, infrastructure, AI/datacenter, and heavy industry sectors to support project execution and scalability.

• Pitch Support

  : Collaborate with internal teams to develop compelling investor decks, partnership proposals, and government engagement materials tailored to magma power projects.

• Policy/Community Interface

  : Understand the requirements for building local and national support for projects in the selected region.

Requirements

• Experience

  : 5+ years in energy project development, business development, or a related field, with a focus on geothermal, oil & gas, or renewable energy sectors.
• Experience with repurposing existing infrastructure for new energy applications with stranded or underutilized geothermal assets, such as abandoned wells
• Hands-on experience scouting and assessing potential drilling sites worldwide, including geological surveys, resource mapping, and feasibility studies for geothermal or similar energy projects.

• Technical Knowledge

  : Familiarity with geothermal systems, subsurface geology, and drilling technologies. Understanding of low-permeability reservoirs and their challenges is highly desirable.

• Site Licensing and Regulatory Compliance

  : In-depth knowledge of land asset licensing, permitting processes, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory frameworks across multiple countries. Experience navigating international laws related to energy development, land rights, and resource extraction.

• Business Acumen

  : Strong history of forging partnerships with key stakeholders, such as governments, landowners, energy companies, investors, and local communities. Experience in negotiations, joint ventures, and collaborative project advancement in the energy sector.

• Communication Skills

  : Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience crafting Email and Linked In messaging.

• Global Perspective

  : Experience working in international markets and navigating diverse regulatory and cultural landscapes..
