Job Description

1. Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials, consumables, and capital goods.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure cost-effective and quality materials.
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and delivery standards.

2. Production Planning & Inventory Management

  • Collaborate with Production, PPC (Production Planning & Control), and Quality teams to align supply chain activities within production schedules.
  • Have meetings between engineering and production team to review new projects, analyze requirements and align on deliverables.
  • Ensure DFM principles are applied to procurement and fabrication decisions for cost effectiveness and manufacturability.
  • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid stock-outs and minimize excess holding.
  • Implement material requirement planning (MRP) and Just-in-Time (JIT) concepts.

3. Supply Chain Optimization

  • Implement lean supply chain practices to reduce cost, improve lead times, and enhance efficiency.
  • Use ERP systems for real-time data monitoring and decision-making.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes, identifying bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support capacity planning and job work outsourcing decisions.

4. Team Management & Reporting

  • Lead and mentor the supply chain and procurement team.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities between production, quality and finance.
  • Prepare MIS reports on material planning, vendor performance, inventory status, and cost savings.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelors/Diploma degree in Mechanical.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Supply Chain Management within a manufacturing setup, with expertise in raw material procurement, job work, fabrication, and sourcing of mechanical and electronic components/parts, including but not limited to gears, motors, and compressors. Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, logistics, and inventory control. Should have an understanding of the secondary process.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and MS Excel.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities under tight timelines.
